Not feeling the Jeep flares! Also curious about what looks like carriage bolt heads on the rear tub just above the character line?

I never knew that feature was referred to as a 'character line'. Thank you for that bit of insider info.

I had to go back and Google to make sure I was using the term "character line" correctly. My 8+ years in a body shop fixing wrecks and prettying up others where the paint was not so good, and then the past 13 years in the auto industry, gave me some terms I use, but may be called something else in other areas of the country.

Wait a minute...could it be one is using the other for definitions?

Quite coincidental, my Patrol had the same set of fender flares when I received it.

The flares are from a Jeep CJ-5/CJ-7, evidenced by the recess for the front fender reflector.
The correct of this modification required grafting on a set of rear quarters from a parts Patrol (time and labor intensive).

I am hopeful we all agree: “Do not, under any circumstances cut your rear quarters to accommodate a wider tire! If you want wide tires, either add a 4+” lift kit or buy a Jeep/FJ40 and hack away!”
