Hey guys,

I just got given a little beauty of a 77 patrol with a hardtop, barn style back doors and a sunroof. I was wondering, as the sunroof is sealed shut if there's any rubber seals to seal it off but have it operational. As it stands it leaks a lot and I'd rather not just re seal it shut.

Without any pictures of the sunroof, it's difficult to talk about a solution, but being it a custom made sunroof, you will probably have to improvise the corrective measurements and be a bit creative. Part of the charm of dealing with an old vehicle.

Maybe try to track who made these sunroofs to begin with.

What a Beautiful old g60 you have there, it looks very rust free and I love the red color. Also I can see a few hard to find things on it like the passenger front Rim, its an original one and there pretty hard to come across no days.

Also Regarding the roof, I think you might just find that in fact its not a "Sunroof" as such its what was knows and a "Shooters Hatch" in which could be used to stand up and shoot from while hunting the Tasmanian wilderness. If my memory serves me right, I have seen this "Shooters Hatch" feature on one other patrol, it is the 1976 white SWB that hailed from Tasmania that is now owned by Nissan Australia, so it is a possibility that it is a company in Tasmania who made/manufactured the G60 roofs locally as the fact they wouldn't have to come from the main land.

Michale may have something there about the sunroof. It certainly isn't going to let much sun in. Pretty cool feature if it is. Maybe you could get a pic of the inside so we can see what it has for hardware.

Yep shooting hatch. Looks like a home made job but good setup.
You'll be able to get rubber seals (sold by the meter) at Clark Rubber.
If you open it up and get a shot of what's there now we'll be able to tell what kind of seal you need.

Yeah, it's a pretty great example and it drives like a dream. I'll get some more photos of it and put them up when I can. It's completely stock from what I can tell with only the water pump & master vac giving away with the drive from tassie to sydney (with a good 8 hour stint in 41 degree heat). The floors aren't rusted with the only real rust being on the rear lower panels. I'm going to give it a good wash & polish until I can get the surface rust dealt with on the bonnet and panels.

I'll crack off the sealant from the hatch as it leaks horribly anyway and take some pics. Seems pretty rudimentary without much of a lip to seal it with. If worse comes to worse i'll just need to get it welded shut I guess.

Yeah, it's incredible. My first time up to Cradle Mountain, which was amazing. And you're right, that was Sheffield, we had a walk around before the last leg to Cradle. Great little town.
