I've been a lurker here for a a few weeks, I jointed Feb 17th after my friend let me know he wanted to sell me his Patrol and he wanted it to go to me. I've known this rig since he bought it back in the early 90's. I remember how cool I thought it was and at the time probably told him if he ever sold it, I wanted it. Fast forward to now and It's finally as of today home and in my garage. She's a 1966, had a hard top at one time, but I was told it wasn't in good shape. Thanks for having a forum for Patrols! I've had 4 Land Cruisers, 1992, 1997, 1998, and now back to a 1997 so I'm pretty active on Cruiser forums, but now have another rig I can have some fun with!
I've always wanted an FJ40, but I think this is A LOT cooler!
Mods so far...I removed the chain and Hi-Lift from the front bumper! It has the black plate and yellow writing license plate on the back and I just put the 2015 reg sticker on, (which is also yellow/black)!

Welcome to 60Patrol!

You're not the first Cruiserhead that a Patrol has converted.
I really like the yellow. I think that is my favorite color on a Patrol, even if it isn't stock.

I wanted to paint my first one that color.
Thanks for sharing. Post up pics of the VIN and we'll get it added to the Registry. Have fun with it and keep us posted.

Thanks and thanks on the color lesson! I didn't think yellow was original, but it looks okay (for now)! The inside is painted black and I didn't know how original colors work,, like is a stock color Patrol the same color inside as out? I saw a Patrol brochure or manual on eBay and it was all red with red wheels, and a blue one with blue wheels.

For now, we will just enjoy her as she is but ultimately I would like to get it back to stock as close as possible. I don't suppose by decoding the VIN that I can figure out the original color?
I work about 1.5 miles form home so I think it will be fun to drive to work! Tomorrow I will put her up on the lift after work to get more familiar with everything, check all the fluid levels, tire pressure, vacuum, and wipe down everything!
The VIN is L6006990

Unfortunately Datsun didn't build in color and options to the VIN like other car manufacturers. To find your original color you can usually see some of the original paint somewhere, or sand down some paint to get to the original.
Thanks for the VIN number, I'll get that added. If you can, get me the engine number also. It will be on the right side of the engine.

Nice Patrol! I really like the yelow color. I recently bought a parts rig and it came with some yellow parts from another rig. The Mrs. and I took a liking to that color. Welcome to the forum, ask for help and you will get it here.

Thanks for all the "welcomes!" I forgot to look at for the engine number today, I'll go out in the garage later tonight and write it down.
I'm just over 6'1" and at one point someone put in bucket racing seats so they don't slide back. I think Patrol's came with split bench seats, am I correct? I would like to put those back in, not only to possibly gain some legroom, but I'm sort of a purist and like my vehicles to be how they came from the factory.
Is the spring loaded bottle opener on the left barn door factory?!!!
