Ian will be joining 60Patrol to share his Patrol projects, describe the services he offers, share his vast Patrol knowledge and contribute to the forum so all will benefit. The forum will continue to maintain the open atmosphere that everyone enjoys.

Hello Patrol enthusiasts! I am sure some of you will remember me from years past. To those who do not know me, hello, my name is Ian Westmoreland and I am a die hard Patrol fanatic!

First, let me say, to any member of my old forum, RMP&O, if you were disappointed in the forum going offline or the drama leading up to it, I apologize to you. Without rehashing or bringing up old news or beating dead horse I would like to leave it at that.

RMP&O stands for Rocky Mountain Patrol & Off-Road. In the summer of 2003 I was working a lot on a 1964 Patrol hard top. A friend was around a lot at the time and helped me work on the truck. We came up with the idea and name RMP&O that summer. The idea was to someday be preserving these trucks. At the time I knew not where that would lead but RMP&O was born in the summer of 2003.

For those who do not know me, I have been into Patrols for nearly 25yrs. I got my first Patrol, a 1967, right after high school when I was 19yrs old. That was way back in 1991. Over the years I have owned many of these trucks, that first one really made an impression! I have also owned Toyota Land Cruisers over the years and love them too but the Patrol has a special place in my life. I know members of this forum personally and have even traveled overseas due to Patrols. So you could say I am a pretty hardcore Patrol addict!

In 2011 I sold a 1964 soft top Patrol. The person who purchased the truck for me was interested in finishing the restoration I had already begun on the 64. It was at this time RMP&O went from being a hobby for me to being more serious.

So what is RMP&O now? Well RMP&O restores Patrols and that is what it is all about. Three projects are currently underway for clients and I have two of my own. I am not doing this full time year round for any of the projects. I own a small business which is seasonal and that is my main focus and source of income. However, with three projects in the shop things are certainly expanding. Over the years I traveled to Colombia, South America. I hope in the not so distant future to be able to bring some Patrols into the USA from there. The country of Colombia is full of classic Patrols and many models we did not get here in N. America.

So why did I finally join 60Patrol? I am here to share what I know, the projects I work on and also to help others with their projects. Several frame off restorations are currently underway, it has been a long road to get here but in the process items are being produced that have not been available before. It was me who worked with Mike at Datsunland to try and get the rubber reproduced and I am looking to do much more like this. Who needs dash knobs!? This summer I should have soft top canvas reproduced to match stock. I work with an upholstery shop that does top notch work. A pattern for the soft tops are being made. You should be able to purchase these soft tops directly from the upholstery shop I use in the future. A variety of colors will be available. This shop is making us three soft top canvases so by the time a few are made you should be able to see quality, fitment and so forth. The same shop can do seats and right now is doing four sets of seats for us, both the early grey and the later style silver and black. This upholstery shop is also reproducing for us the early vinyl shifter boots as well as the door panels. So if you like their work you can send your stuff off to them to have it refurbished. Soon I am having all the stickers on the truck reproduced, it is no problem to make extras if somebody wants these stickers. From time to time I/we will have parts for sale. For example, right now we are building a Patrol for a client from two Patrols. Everything left over will be available, which is a complete Patrol less an engine a few odds and ends. We are also interested in trading parts with other Patrol enthusiasts. Once in a great while we may have items for free, just come and claim them!

I also do interesting builds which can inspire ideas, both from me to you and from you to me. These I call resto-mods. That simply means the classic Patrol but with updated components or drivetrain. My current resto-mod is a 1977 Patrol Ute imported from New Zealand. This ruck is receiving an SD33T turbo diesel, 160-series Patrol 5spd and t-case as well as 160 Patrol axles.

Anyone who has been around Patrols of various years knows how many changes Nissan made to these trucks between 1960 & 1968. I have torn down at least a dozen of these trucks of various years and just the other day I learned something new! So I hope to share what I know with you all and perhaps even learn a few more things.

I would like to offer my services to the Patrol community. However, I do not sell parts, I do not do general repairs on trucks. I do restorations, that does range from a light resto to a full frame off nut & bolt back to original. Resto-mods are also part of what I offer. Currently though I am booked up for at least the next year. In the meantime perhaps I can share the kind of builds I do!

Hello Tim, Rob & Leslie!

Thanks for having me. I think you will find my above post will be one of the longest ones I do on this forum. For the most part my posts will just be pictures. And as far as my pictures, I apologize in advance if they go offline. I don't currently have a good host for my pics but do have a website in the works where my pictures will be hosted. Until that time my pictures are not super reliable. I am aware we can upload pics here but rather than hog up your storage space I will upload them offsite.

Welcome, is good to have Ian around. The quality of the works Ian make, will be an incentive to the ones that are trying to keep the Patrols running... I Don´t Know the full History, I don´t care about it... Sincerely it´s good to have 60Patrol.com and RMP&O Together

Welcome Ian. I was around RMP&O for a short time at the end. I am impressed with your restorations you have going on, and look forward to your contributions here at 60Patrol. .
