Rather than go through the previous months and years of the build it simply seems best to pick it up where we are now. This truck has taken a long time to get to this point,many hurdles had to be tackled and overcome. Getting parts has probably slowed it down more than anything. I went into this project knowing a lot about Patrols, by the end of it I have learned a lot.
Just a little background info. This Patrol came from New Mexico, not far from the Mexico border. I purchased it from another Patroller, Danner. I started the resto many years ago but after only getting so far the project was put on hold and the Patrol put in storage. A good number of years later I had decided to sell the large majority of my Patrols and scale back to just one or two. So I sold the 64 Patrol along with a large load of parts I had been saving for many years. Shortly after the sale I was contracted by the new owner to do a restoration.
This Patrol was taken down to a bare frame. The frame was sand blasted, restored and rebuilt. The #2 cross member required extensive work and was fully fabricated. Once restored the frame was coated on the inside with Rust Bullet. All components of the chassis were cleaned, sand blasted and painted black along with the frame. New leaf springs were made by Alcan. The engine received a full rebuild. Starter and generator fully rebuilt, an NOS water pump, oil pump and fuel pump were fitted along with an NOS distributor. The trans and t-case were also fully rebuilt including new synchro rings in the trans. The axles were rebuilt including the ring & pinions. The brakes have been fully refurbished including springs, metal & rubber lines, wheel cylinders and shoes, drums were also turned down. All hardware on the truck was plated with zinc, zinc with yellow chromate and zinc with black chromate. Seats are currently being rebuilt by our upholstery shop. Before long a new soft top canvas will be made. We are using original 16" wheels, new tubes and flaps along with a set of Michelin XZL tires. The Patrol has a PTO winch.
The color for the Patrol is not an original Patrol color. This truck was white when it was sold by Nissan/Datsun in 1964. Originally Roy Rogers green was discussed for this truck. There is a lot of Patrols out there though that color and the owner wanted something different but still green. I sent the owner the following pictures and he really liked the color. Since it is not an original Patrol color I did not have the data on this color. We did find a later Nissan color though that was a close match.
The Patrol was at the body shop for most of the winter and only recently come back into my shop. I have started in on final assembly.
You may notice the leaf springs are giving a lot of lift and the rear shackle angle is not ideal. These springs are giving over 3" of lift which is to much for this build. New leaf springs are being made that will be in the max of 1" lift. I will take and use these lifted springs in my 68 Patrol. That truck I am going to run a 33" tire and will be lifted. However, I will likely remove a few leaves from the pack to lower the truck a bit.

) that the one in this brochure picture was early Olive green (code 352, according to the Dulux sample card I found)... but the Patrol in your picture is a later truck (a 68, probably?), so who knows if they are the same color.
