Bought the Patrol in 1986 fitted with a Ford 302 v8. The conversion were poorly done so I rebuild it.
Sold it in 1993. It went through a few other owners. The engine blew at one stage and the previous owner ask me to rebuild the engine.
Told him to let me know if he ever want to sail the Patrol. So the Patrol landed back with me again.

At some stage it was converted to a hunting vehicle. I do own a few other 4x4 and my sons begged the Patrol from me.
It ended up with the youngest and we are slowly modifying it to a mean 4x4.

It looks petty solid, it should be a good project. It's an early one. Not too many early Patrols found in South Africa. There is a unibody Patrol pickup down there somewhere.
Beyond any hope for intervention

Set of Edelbrock aluminium cylinder hesds, roller rockers, Edelbrock Performer intake and 670 Holley Truck Avenger.

Spark suppleid by electronic HEI dizzy.

The little 302 will be good for around 310hp.

Way back in 86 I modified a 5 speed gearbox to mach the Patrols transfer case. After selling it some one made up a new shaft between the gearbox and t-case.
They stuffed up big time by welding bits together. After upgrading power this shaft snapped on two occasions.

Sourced an H55 five speed from a Land Cruiser. Turned adapters between the Cruiser box and Patrol drive shafts.
