Oil pressure sender, what works?

G'day everyone,
I'm trying to source a new oil pressure sender for my 76 resto project and would like to get the factory oil pressure gauge going but I'm struggling to find a listing on a new sender. Does anybody know of one or at least an ohm range that will work close enough with the factory gauge?

If the resistance is in the correct direction (e.g. more pressure = more resistance or vise versa... I can't remember which it is), then we can probably make a tiny circuit that will scale it to match the gauge. I'm happy to help with that.

Thanks guys, I think I'll run the gauge down to my local electronics guy and see if he can give me and ohm range it works through, then I might be lucky enough to find one close enough from another vehicle, if I can't get it spot on it's not the end of the world but the little details make a difference I think

Hi Peter60,

That listing is like all I've come up with so far but it's for a oil pressure light, they are just a simple pressure switch, the gauge senders are generally much bigger as they have a varible resester in them.

I spoke with the local electronics guy yesterday and he said if I bring the gauge in he can run a test and give me the working resestence range of the gauge, then it's a matter of trawling listings to find a sender as close as possible, he said if it were real critical he could build a small circuit to correct the range of a different sender. I Guess this is the same thing a you already suggested Faux40?? I'll up date results as I get around to it.
