It is possible to fit an arb locker to the rear of your vehicle as I have done so in mine It involves getting a rb71 locker (i think can confirm if needed) and manufacturing a piece to fit in between the axle ends internally in the diff centre as the g60 has  semi floating rear axles and not fully floating as per the GU the locker is designed for It can be done but a lot of screwing around Other option which imho is nearly as good as I had one of these before the locker was a lsd from a lwb mq p40 engined patrol from about 1980ish this lsd is great hope I helped

clear on the rb71 ARB locker fitment but....   On the LSD, do you mean change the 3rd member out with one from a early 80's MQ P40 with a rear LSD? This is either the C200 or H233 rear diff and can even be the H260 depending on the Patrol. So which diff model is it from? My 83 MQ has a C200 rear with an LSD and yea the LSD seems sweet. BTW, the G60 has a C216 rear diff unless ti is the big H260. 4.10 gearing in both G60 diffs

Its the h260 diff and you just rip out the axles pull the third member out put the lsd in and set your pre loads via the shims on the ends of the axles as per norm will have one of these diffs for sale in melb in about a month or two

Is the LSD from a H260 also? My 86 parts book doesn't show a LSD for the H260. Only on the C200 and H233. My 83 MQ has a rear C200 with an LSD.   BTW, All our USA Patrols have a C216 rear diff that is smaller than the H260 so this won't work unless you import a H260 rear diff. Lucky for me I have one coming in a 77 Ute Patrol!

dont know the diffrence between h233 and h260 but the lsd I put in mine out of an mq went straight in with out changing anything so I am tipping h260 btw the mq was p40 eng, 4 speed manual lwb dont know what year but this info should narrow it down. Didnt have to change ring and pinion or anything same ratios already.Didnt realize you guys didnt get the h260 as only about 10% of ours were the short wb, most are mwb plus the odd lwb tray Saw one of these recently with two swb cabs made into a twin cab on a lwb chassis with 350 chev-very nice cheers

I would have to check my 86 Aus parts book but I am pretty sure the H260 has no LSD option. Only the C200 and the H233. You are right the truck being LWB MQ with P40 and 4spd does narrow it down to one or two diffs possible. I am pretty sure the MQ Ute is the only one that you can find a P40 and H260 in. Also fairly sure no L28 Patrols got the HD H260 diff.   BTW, the H260 is also found in some of Nissan's other trucks such as the passenger busses and Cabstar. Early on the h260 can be found in the Nissan Junior trucks. I got word that some of the Nissan Atlas/Cabstar big truck stuff will go under a Patrol as they used ED-series of motors which is a 4cyl SD33 and the same trannies as MQ/MK's. Supposedly the Cabstar 5spd which is the same as the Marks 5spd (gutas wise) will bolt right up to the SD33 found in MQ/MK's. This because the cabstar uses the ED-series motors which as I mention is a 4cyl SD33. I have been researching if the P40 has the same bolt pattern as the SD33 because then the Cabstar 5spd will bolt to the P40 which I have in my 80 LG61. And just maybe in turn the Cabstar 5spd will then bolt to the P engine found in 1960-1979 Patrols. Might take a few adapter plates but sure would be awesome if this worked out for an easy bolt up 5spd. A guy in NZ was telling me about how he has fitted Atlas diffs (not sure on model) to a Safari 5spd and then that to a SD33T all in a bus. Dellow Auto in Aus who makes adaptors is who told me about the cabstar bolting up to the SD33 and so did Marks 4wd. On my own I am trying to figure out if it will also bolt to the P40. Either way it does take an adaptor plate for the transfer but it is a simple one.   I have heard of the crew-cab G60's. Heard they are custom made and not many in Aus....but they made a batch of them so it is not just one or two floating around. Were done up for mines or similar 20-30 years ago. It is likely special to Aus and you would only find the oddball one in other countries that is custom made. You also got some very rare models such as the deluxe hardtops and the LWB wagons. The LWB wagons are either a van or wagon and will say VG60 or WG60 on the vin plate. I have seen two LWB wagons in Oz and just missed buying one this week. Other than the Utes & firetrucks these are the only 110" wheel base G60's.

I found a marks 5 speed mated to a p40 engine but had replaced the mq 4 speed and still had the mq t/case on it, this would have done me but I have a pto winch and this didnt bolt up to mq t/case so I let it slide. This was odd but apparently the last of the g60s had mq gearbox etc in it .This was in jan though so its probably gone now Halls 4x4 salvage melb.had it

1980-1984 is the 61 series, ie LG61 or G61. The 61 series is the old body style and frame with MQ motors (P40), MQ 4spd & transfer and MQ C200 diffs. They were made to compete with the FJ TLC's still being made during the early 80's. IMHO this is the best and coolest model of Patrol produced, at least in the old style.   Ring the junkyard...I will give you a finders fee!!

Oh yea...I had forgot to add this earlier and I just checked to make sure, there is also a bunch of info here on the various boxes discussed up to now.    I have a 83 MQ 4spd in the shop along with transfer and I can tell you for sure the spline count and shaft length is not a match for the eariler P engine and 3spd. So if the Marks was manufactured for a P engine to replace a 3spd I don't see how it could bolt to a P40...? This is for a SD33 though and I have not had the chance to check if a SD33 matches a P40 in terms of spline count, shaft length and such. I am pretty sure it does though as they use the same trannies & transfer and motor is similar in size. Unlike the L28 which uses a differnt transfer case and such as it is a smaller motor. Unless the P40 packs the same bolt pattern, spline count and shaft length as the earlier P engine. Then the Marks 5spd might work on a P40. If that is indeed the case it opens up a whole new world to tranny upgrades in the old 60 series Patrols. This because if it bolts to a Sd33 which in turn is a bolt to a P40 which in turn is a bolt to a P engine you can fit MK 5spds to the early Patrols! But I seriously doubt that is the case...and this is all on pretty limited info on my part as I don't have all the stuff in front of me. Plus you can always toss in the custom made factor to account for the Marks 5spd being bolted to a P40 and MQ transfer case. Any ways there is something about the motors and what does and doesn't work on them. I am about 80% sure on this right now too.   The PTO does not bolt to the transfer. Not for a front PTO to run a winch. Same goes for the MQ 4spd. It bolts to the LHS of the tranny which in the USA is drivers side. The 3spd has a clearly visable cover plate for the PTO box and I do have a PTO here in the shop. I don't see how it could be any different on a RHD Patrol, the mounting of the boxes and shifters does not change. A rear PTO does mount to the transfer case but it is directly behind the tranny. Where the cover plate is located. Had one of these so am sure of how it mounts. The pictures I have of a Marks 5spd doesn't show any place for a PTO to bolt on, ie the case has not PTO cover on it's side. Yet, A Cabstar 5spd which is what the Marks is basically does except a PTO. What I am saying is the Marks uses Cabstar guts so if you have to rebuild it you will use Cabstar parts. Bearings and seals maybe not, couldn't say till I get my hands on the tranny. So it is not the guts in the Marks 5spd that would be a problem for a PTO but rather the box. Marks did make up to recently an adaptor plate and or kit to bolt the Cabstar 5spd to the MQ motors and also the MQ transfer case. So perhaps what you saw was a Cabstar 5spd?? Makes sense to me if the truck was a G61 packing MQ drivetrain. I would probily take a Cabstar 5spd too but have already located them used for under $1000. So I am more after the Marks on my 60 series for bolt on fun! I was after a Cabstar 5spd for my 83 MQ but have bought a 86 MK 5spd insted that has a PTO attched to it.   here are some pictures on my forum of a Marks 4wd 5spd...   http://rockymountianpatrol.netfirms.com ... .php?t=187   clearly no place for a PTO to mount. You can also clearly see the Marks id number on it so would be hard to confuse with another box. A USA Patroler though should notice from these pictures the bolt pattern and spline counts on the tranny. This paticular Marks 5spd is fitted to a 350 v8 in a 1970's Patrol in Aus. So the input shaft is not a match to the P engine, the out put is a match to the transfer though...which is clearly visable.  I do want Marks 4wd 5spd badly so anyone in Australia who reads this keep that in mind. I am currently offering a finders fee for this tranny.
