Heater Warm Up Time
Hi all
Now that it's "cold" again here in SoCal, I was wondering is it just me or does the air coming out of the passenger heater box take forever to warm up?
The coolant for the engine will get to temperature in a normal amount of time on a cold morning so why wouldn't the heater box follow suit ? Why would there be a delay - not really making sense to me ...
Thoughts?
Thank you

Re: Heater Warm Up Time
Is the heater line valve on the rear side of the head opened up? If you follow the heater hose from the heater to the side of the headyou will find where the valve is located.

Re: Heater Warm Up Time
Hi guys
sorry for the newbie question ...
I hadn't thought about the valve at the back of the head ... I thought it was open - but with a little convincing I was able to open it up quite a bit more - it was only letting a trickle get into the heater core - so never mind then ...
Thank you for your help
onwards!

Re: Heater Warm Up Time
I had been meaning to ask if that valve can be closed off without causing engine overheating. I presume this means it can be safely closed?RiverPatrol wrote:It was in the summer position.

Yes. The water that flows through that valve is only for the heater. Patrols without heaters don't have that valve.
Beyond any hope for intervention
