60Patrol

My son and I are about to start a Patrol Project. The Patrol has been tented for almost 10 years. It was in great shape but not running when I put it away. 10 years went by in the blink of an eye. A couple of weeks ago I picked up an extra driveline from a 67 Patrol. We are in the information gathering stage and getting things ready for a Summer push. Our plan at this point is to take out the non running engine, put the new "running" engine in and get the old Troll running. The theory is that we will learn a great deal switching out engines and getting it running and then see how far my son wants to take this project. No rust and an extra driveline seems too good to pass up. This will be our first BIG restoration. In the past I have done motorcycles. When I read other posts I am both overwhelmed by the process and relieved so many have been down this path ahead of me. I will try to record the project as we go and hopefully learn from other members and give back some information others can use. Stock is great but more than anything we want a driver.

I screwed up...I should have named him Chase Danger....UGH! My Middle name is "Danger" figured it would help him close the deal in college...HA! Good kid straight A's, amazing athlete...NEEDS a Patrol. I told him to think of a Patrol as a *Chick Filter* not a Chick Magnet! I am pretty sure the fun ones...will be attracted to adventure.... We live in a great place to own a Patrol...lots and lots of mountain roads and trails to get lost on. A Patrol is pretty much the perfect rig for him.

The Patrol will slow him down for sure.

I told him, every car can be driven faster than it is safe to drive....for the Patrol...that is about 35mph!

So.....my first of a MILLION questions: When I put the engine back into the Patrol I should probably replace the motor mounts. The goal is to get the Patrol Running....even badly running is better than not running at all. Are there some "basic" must have parts I should start collecting. The gas tank is going to need a look as well. I suspect the gas is a decade over 30 days!

Motor mounts are typically reused, unless they are obviously broken. It's not like the engine torques much when it's revved, so the motor mounts don't get a lot of abuse.
