Spark Plug

Post by chrisvoinche »

I am looking for the correct spark plug to put in my 1965 Nissan Patrol? Searched the board, but no luck. Can someone help?

I am also looking for a soft top frame for my patrol. Let me know if anyone has one they want to part with.

Did you ever get part numbers for the plug wires and coil wire?

And does anyone have replacement part numbers or a recommended source for plug+coil wires to fit the Helmar Dizzy - I am replacing my WP and cannot find a set.

And finally - is there anyone who rebuilds the WP dizzy? I'd like to have it on the shelf in good working order for reinstallation - either if I get serious about restoration to original or if I ever sell it (perish the thought).

Thanks in advance

The part number for plug wires is 22450-80029. They aren't specific for the WP distributor because they have the connectors on the ends. The connecters get cut off to use them with the WP distributor cap.

I don't know why they wouldn't work for the Helmar distributor, if they are still available. Actually I would think that pretty much any plug wires should work for the Helmar. Plug wires are usually universal.

Thanks, River. I will look for those wires.

For now, I bought a wire set for an early straight six Mustang and the lengths worked out well, except that the coil wire was to short. I bought it separately.

The Helmar swap made a BIG difference. The WP distributor appears to have been the cause of my misfire issues, likely because of a worn bushing and maybe the advance, too. The truck runs like a watch and with the new exhaust, sounds a lot less tractor-like.

Does anyone know whether the WP can be rebuilt? I'd really like to keep the truck as close to stock as practical.

Thanks

Good to hear it's running well.

I don't recall anyone having their WP distributor rebuilt recently. I know the vacuum advance can be rebuilt. There is a place in Washington State that does it. See this post in the archives: http://www.60patrol.com/forum/viewtopic ... 289&p=7185

I had mine rebuilt and converted to electronic ignition here. They are a little pricey as I recall.

Hi. I am in Colombia and I have taken advantage of my body expert free time to make some Frame for soft top reproduction. Please see pictures. I am not sure how expensive is ship it from Bogota Colombia to USA. Maybe you can come a couple days for vacations and carry it. Windshield not included. It is to assembly all parts and test.
