Hi everyone, long time patrol owner (gqs, GU) but ever since I knew what a g60 was I wanted one!happy to say that I just purchased my first 60, its a 78 softop. P motor with the 3 speed. In surprising good condition, purchased it off someone I knew after seeing it sitting under a tarp in a driveway years ago. Very little rust and id say it just about drives nicer then my GQ. Very happy with it so far. Proper info (from people who have/do own them) seems to be a bit hard to find, so I think iv joined the right forum.

Thank you!

Once I figure out how to use this forum properly I'll post Much more detailed photos. Gotta have photos :D. So yeah this is it. Mwb I believe, they are very very rare where I am I have only ever seen a couple of them in person and only ever seen one driving on the road ! So I had to jump on the chance to buy this one. Lisenced and running, realised it had a charging problem. New brushes in the alt sorted that and a new battery today and it's good as gold. There is a few small rust spots an bubbles, with the only bad rust being the gearbox crossmember (common from a few comments iv read on this forum?) Lowest point I guess. But still not unfixable. It shall be going in my shed later this year to be stripped, rust all fixed up and re painted and put back together good as new hopefully. I'll be sure to take plenty of photos when that's all happening. Cheers, Shayn

Hi Shayn,

really nice looking MWB G60 - and with the soft top and frame ! From what I've seen since I've been watching the 60 Patrol scene there are probably hundreds of these things sitting neglected in sheds and paddocks around Australia but most are in pretty sad shape...congrats on finding one that has been cared for

cheers,
D

cheers mate, yeah i know its a shame hey...iv been looking on and off for a fair while now and very rarely does anything decent come up,on another note, took the 60 for a run with my wife after work today, started coffing a few hundred meters or so away from the servo and died..had enough momentum up rolled all the way there. turned a corner and pulled up at the pump, even on the right side! love it when that happens. im not sure how thirsty it is yet, fuel gauge doesnt work...or any of the gauges besides the speedo..

cheers, shayn

Nice - that last few hundred meters was pretty fuel efficient then !

Can't imagine the P motor is going to be thrifty on fuel though - long stroke, heavy conrods, 7.5:1 compression, 3 speed...on the plus side, max torque at around 2000rpm so no need to rev it to get it moving.

cheers,
D
