Gear oil for diffs and transmission

I'm changing all the fluids on my patrol before I run it much for the first run. I've done the coolant and the engine oil. I've drained the diffs and am going to drain the transmission and transfer case . I see the chart that river sent me from Esso calls for 90 ep oil for all gear applications but all I can seem to find is 80w90. I'm assuming this is proper as well for the diffs and trains?

Yes. I've been using only that for diffs and tranny. I don't even bother with synthetics types here.

I got a 5 gallon pail of GL-4 when i was doing my FJ55, the current GL-5 has higher levels of EP additive that is corrosive to the brass parts. Will do the same with my patrols. I think my father runs just a straight weight mineral oil in his CJ3 Jeep.

Sweet. I picked up a jug of 80w90 , is rated for gl4 and 5. I made a transfer pump out of a garden sprayer and some tubing. I'll post a pic later

So here is the transfer pump for the gear oil that I made from a 1 gallon garden sprayer some clear tubing and a ball valve. I used a piston type before but found it leaked a lot and made a mess. I was able to pump it up and work on other things while it filled the diffs and the transfer case. I have a very dumb question, where is the fill plug on the transmission? I found the dip stick but it is seized so I am soaking it.

Not at all. Unfortunately the dip stick plug also acts as the fill plug. So be careful not to damage it, specially trying to unscrew it by the handle.

I modified on mine the lateral cover years ago, and installed a fill plug there. It also acts as an overfill check. I posted a picture here some years ago. I will try to find the link.
