Spacer for Hitachi Carb

Post by L60Boerne »

Is there a ready location for the spacer that separates the Hitachi Carb from the exhaust manifold? Apparently mine was lost between rebuildings.
Any help would be appreciated,

I don't know that machining one is an optimal idea. The original one is made of bakelite (or something similar) and probably serves to disperse the heat from the manifold. I think I have a spare.

Thanks River, I have time to receive it if you would kindly send it. From pictures I see it looked like Bakelite and wasn't aluminum. It turns out that Dynamic Industries in Ft. Worth might have wrecked my Hitachi when they rebuilt it. I am going to see if the second one I bought last week has parts that will get the first one running. I finally have confidence in an area motor mechanic. Naturally he is from CA! He really knows what he is doing and he had his own Nissan Patrol Service Manual!

He said the aluminum would be just as good. As usual advice from gurus is always appreciated.

I have an original Patrol blank key I could send you in trade, or anything else you need or want. I have several extra rubber strips that go around the from windshield, if you one of those.

Thanks again.

Well that certainly sucks about the Hitachi. How do they mess something like that up, its a pretty simple carb? Sorry to hear the misadventure. But good that you've found a reliable mechanic. And he has a Patrol service manual?! :o  8-) I'm doing some digging in the parts room right now for someone else, I'll make a point of looking for the carb base.

there is someone selling the insulators on ebay for $15. Item # 182453123335. is that what you are looking for? part number is 16174-58001, use item number to search ebay as part number is not in the title description.

I've decided to put in the aluminum spacer so in about 2 weeks the OEM ones will arrive if anyone needs one, I've got the two.
