Steering Box?

Hello, Patrollers!

I'm dealing with a steering issue with PFPatrol - the wheel keeps turning, even beyond the limits. She steers fine, in the road, but there is definitely a problem. I'm thinking it may be time for a replacement steering box.

Any pointers / sources?

Thanks!

I'm trying to get a better understanding of your problem. When I serviced the steering box on mine a year ago, with the steering linkage disconnected from the box, you could only turn the steering wheel a definite number of turns to each side until a stop is felt. I mention this, since with the linkage connected, the amount that you can turn is a bit less than that since the wheels can only turn some amount and then they reach their stops.

Is it the case that the steering wheel is able to turn more, even after the box reached its stops? If so it could indicate a loose steering wheel and worn splines. Hopefully not. Please give us some more details.

Thanks - I'll be getting the Patrol back from the shop tomorrow and will post more details then. If it is the case of the worn splines, what are my options?
