Couple weeks ago i managed to score this gem. 1977 factory hard top. Runs and kinda drives. I want to get this on the road by next year. so plan is to find a fiberglass top to put on it and put the rusty roof away incase I plan on fixing it. there is rust in the normal places but nothing to hard to fix.
Also interestingly it looks to have an emissions air pump, but not 100%

Very interesting! If an original hard top is rare in Australia, a MWB one even more!
I've only seen two MWB with an original factory top, yours being the second. One belonged to the Japanese embassy in Ecuador in the mid 70s, and was the unique model that had the reinforced roof for what they called "TV or movie van.."

Very cool!

I think this is the first MWB factory hard top I've seen, certainly the first air pump on a 60 Ive ever seen. Very interesting indeed. Perhaps it was designated for another country originally? Although some of the only one-of-a-kind stuff only shows up in Australia for some reason.

Today, one of the random pictures at the top showed a nice example of a MWB hard top.
The album is at this link:

I wonder where was it located. Looks like here in the States, possibly New Jersey?

The '78 manual says the air pump was fitted to 60 Patrols in NSW and VIC, but not G60 Patrols...even though this one is a G60 ???
Not sure why you'd add one when it wasn't mandated...would have thought it would be one of those "owner delete" options.
cheers,
D

Of course Michael would have them all scoped out with that built in Patrol tracker of his.

As I recall the difference between the 60 and the G60 was that the G60 was the heavy load model with the bigger rear diff. Yes, certainly an owner delete option.

Haha this built in Patrol Tracker is defiantly a good thing
The Prefix "G' Represents wheelbases of 2500mm or over, So Represents the MWB and Utes. The Heavy Duty Model Was Prefixed with a "H" meaning Heavy Duty, But all MWB and LWB Cab Chassis and Tub Ute were Factory Heavy Duty here in Aus.
Hugh's (AUS60) G60 compliance plate will be stamped Patrol
"K" for Hardtop
"G60" for wheelbase of 2500mm
