Off Road Trailer

Greetings Patrollees Worldwide,

CCV5 may never get paint worth a second look but it will be put to use. I am starting on a off road trailer to be used on high mountain treks in Colorado and Chihuahuan desert rumbles. This trailer will not be much to look at either but shouldn't fail on the trail.

I am starting with a surplus military 1.5ton trailer stripped to the flat bed. The first accoutrements will be a 30 gallon fuel tank and 40 gallon water tank. I'm thinking of using wood as much as possible to reduce weight. It will likely have an upper deck.

I'm sticking with the pintle hook.

The big advantage of the surplus military trailers aside from the ruggedness is the pintle and the HD front wheel that makes for a real stable platform when disconnected.

The build starts next week. I bought a 2.5 t surplus military trailer last year, sight unseen. Don't do that! Too big and heavy to be useful. Hoping the1.5T isn't. I'll find out next week.
