Merry Christmas to all. Billy Graham gave a sermon on the true meaning of "merry". Biblically it means "strong".

Speaking of strong. Are those Selectro replacement hubs "strong". CCV6 (63) Patrol have easy to use mushroom or external type housing for locking the front hubs.

I like the external housing, it is easy to rotate when muddy....but should I have the Selectro Hubs on the shelf?

Are they Chinese, Japanese or US manufacturer? Any advice would be appreciated.

I've never heard anything bad about the Selectro hubs. They were used on some early Patrols, although the most common were Warn hubs.

I have a set on my 75 Patrol, put on when new. They seem fine, and easy to rotate to lock.

I think there are a few of these in Australia.

Thank you, if they are strong enough for Australia they are more than enough for me.

I think they are old enough to be made before the cheap Chinese fake parts flooded NAPA, O'Reilly's, Tractor Supply, etc etc.

FYI, NAPA O'Reilly's et al have three quality levels for each commonly used part. Your mechanic will slap on the lowest quality 100% of the time unless you request the best, then verify the best was installed. Why, they make more money they charging you full book price while installing Chinese knock off parts.

Starting in 2015 I started demanding proof that first quality parts are put in when something needs fixing. It is not easy to verify or cheap but bolting on parts from China designed to get a used car off the lot is not acceptable. Went through three power steering pumps on my GMC 3/4 ton ranch (CCV3) truck before the shop understood anything less was not acceptable.

Why all this? Because it became clear the Chinese parts don't last which precipitates another expensive visit to the shop or a ruined weekend limping something home.

It is always cheaper to fix something right the first time. Thus my frustration with mechanics around my area. They rarely get it right the first time except for Rafael and King Kong Craig, both will stick with it until it is right.
