Post by leidgam »

Hello, my name is Mag. I wanted to introduce myself and my 1982 Nissan Patrol LG61.
I live in the Charlotte, NC area and very happy to have found this forum of people who love this unique vehicle. I appreciate all the hard work to keep this forum alive. Look forward to talking to you guys in the future. If there is anybody in the Carolinas please let me know. Thanks!

Welcome to 60Patrol! :text-welcomeconfetti: You came to the right place to find a bunch of other Patrol nuts. You have a very sweet Patrol! Where is it from?

I think we have one or two members in your area, they might chime in here.

Thank you for the warm welcome!

My beautiful wife of 14 years is from Colombia, and I was able to bring the Patrol from there. We have been to Colombia over 10 times and you see a lot of Patrols. A lot of them are work trucks on coffee farms, or they are also used as public transportation in the mountains, but every now and then you find a nice one.

It was an adventure having it imported. It left Colombia at the end of December and for some reason it got dropped off and left in Mexico for about 3 weeks  But everything is well. It finally arrived in Miami and got to us in North Carolina about 1 month ago. We also just got North Carolina title for it. That was another adventure of its own, since the DMV lost the Colombian title and I had to plead with them to process the title application.

Now I'm going over it to see what it may need mechanically. I'll post what I find out.

If anybody has any sources for parts in the States please let me know. I know these things are hard to find parts for!

Welcome.

Beautiful Patrol.

You always learn something new or get some ideas from what people post.

Very interesting side steps....
Not sure if I will get there.
Not sure if I will get back.
But I usually do!!!

Good morning Mag,

I can't wait to get back to Columbia and drive through the mountains and drink their coffee. If you need a part, then the Patrol Whisperers herein know where they are hidden.

I have a question, what did it cost to ship that museum piece up here?

Beautiful Patrol, great story. There are several nice Patrols that have come out of Colombia, we have a few members here from there as well.

Often your best source of parts will be eBay. There are several vendors there that have various parts from all over the world; Australia, Kuwait and Colombia. We only had the Patrol imported to the states from '62 to '69 so parts here are very scarce. Most of what you find here will be used parts from scrapped vehicles. Many of those parts will not be compatible with your G61, but some will. Ask here first if you are unsure of the fit.

Mag,

Columbian sources are good too. Your floor matts look pretty good. There must be a source for them down there. Please send a message down there to see if there is a person making the floor mat pattern that fits our Patrols.
