Technican - Gearbox
Hi, New to the forum. Question: Is it possible to fit a later model (MQ)4 or 5 speed gearbox in G60 Patrol

Re: Technican - Gearbox
Unfortunately, not.
The flywheel covers are totally different front and back with different bolt patterns, to the point the two engines, P and P40 are not interchangeable despite the fact that they share many components.
Sorry about it.

Re: Technican - Gearbox
As Esteban rightly says, they aren't directly interchangeable...but...
I have a G61 which has the MQ ( P40 and 4 speed ) mechanical setup from factory, and the previous owner - forum member Eddy - fitted a P motor from a G60 to it with an adapter plate to mate it to the 4 speed and single lever transfer case.
You'd need a similar adapter plus a G61 or modified transmission cover to suit the new gear, transfer and handbrake lever positions. Also, the rear drivetrain to chassis mounts may need to be altered...
Or a Mark's 5 speed conversion kit...
Cheers,
D

Please take a look at this thread, about a 5 Speed Gearbox that was updated with excellent comments 2 days ago.DEBNAB@bigpond.com wrote:Hi Thank you to all that responded to my question. Back to the drawing board

The easiest route for you could be a used Marks 5 speed.
