Hi folks,
i am from Singapore, bought a RHD 1978 G60 recently overseas (yipee...), probably the only few G60 in South East Asia. (never sold in this region before)
The wagon had a new alternator installed (12v 50A) before shipping.
I am unable to start the wagon well even I had a new battery replace.
My local mechanic believed that i need a higher Ampere alternator as it is not charging the battery properly.
Can any kind folks advise?
Thank you very much in advance.

Re: 1978 G60 : Alternator Issue
The Patrol should start with a well charged battery regardless of the amperage of the alternator. Is it turning over slowly? If so the problem might be that the timing is set incorrectly, or possibly even the drive gear for the distributor is installed incorrectly. This will make the Patrol difficult to turn over when starting, kind of acting like a bad battery.
Beyond any hope for intervention
