I have a 69 Patrol the that the fuel pump is leaking on. From what i's seeing onthe boards a repair kits is not avable
. i'm thainking about using an inline electric pump, but i dont know what pressure pump i need. Any help would be greatly appricated

The fuel pump for the Patrol produces a pressure between 4 to 5 psi. I guess that an electric with up to 10 psi will be ok.

However, if you still want a mechanical pump, they are still available since some Komatsu forklifts use the P40 motor with the same fuel pump as the P engine on the Patrol.

An Airtex E 8016S is a good quality electric pump.
Amazon sells for about $33.
It is rated 2.5 to 4 psi.
I used a 10 psi pump previously, (cause it was free) it tended to flood the carb at idle or engine off conditions.
I tried an in-line regulator, but it didn’t regulate at very low flow rates. (Pressure climbed)
My old notes say the Patrol pressure should be around 4.25 psi.
Been working fine for about a year, and is quiet.
Don’t tell anyone, but I wished to keep the stock engine-driven pump with it’s cool looking
manual primer feature.
I removed all guts, and blanked the mounting hole. I can’t remember (5 years later) exactly how I modded the insides, but fuel simply passes thru now with no restriction.

I was able to gain a $2,000 fuel pump lesson recently. Here is what I found.

a). Electric fuel pumps are cheap and work.....but VERY noisy.
b). The fuel tank bottom design dictates the type of "in tank" fuel pump you can use.
c). The OEM Patrol fuel pump is mechanical, still available and excellent and should be replaced and are easy to locate.

Patrolling with plenty of petrol,

Thanks all I was able to locate a new mechanical pump from a fork lift dealer is should be here tomorrow.

If you pursue the electric fuel pump option, remember to install an oil pressure switch and relay. You don’t want the electric fuel pump to continue pumping fuel in the event of an an accident.
