1969 on Ebay in southern Illinois

Post by rdarnell »

Well one of my old patrols is for sale again. I bought it as a package deal in Feb2017, I toyed with it a little and got it running-ish and relisted it on Ebay in Dec2017. Sold it to a local guy who took a few pieces off for his really nice 1969 and then apparently resold it in early 2018 to Curts Classic Cars. Back in Oct I spotted it on FB marketplace and reached out to the seller. I mentioned that I sold the truck locally in Dec2017 and he said it was not the same truck and that he had owned it for over 11 years. I gave the VIN as L6052754 and he said that was not the number. I mentioned the home made rear hitch, the same rear light, same tear in the seat, same rust hole near vent on fender and the green panel on the top and said i was 110% sure that was my old truck... he said i was 110% wrong. I posted some of the conversation on my FB page and the guy I bought it from commented that he was 110% sure as well since he was the one who painted the rear of the hardtop green as a test panel. Not sure who that guy was, he listed himself as the police chief of east cape girardeau Ill but seems the cities website gave that distinction to someone else.

anyway... it seems to be for sale on Ebay now by the people who bought it from Paul, the guy I sold it to.

just spoke to Curt at Curts Classic cars... he sounds like a legit guy and that is the guy Paul sold it to. They other guy I messaged last year (the police chief) had been let go.

The truck when I had it was all original and complete I see a couple small things missing that Paul kept for his tan one that he sold last year also. I got the truck running a little to verify it had the potential to run, I think Paul tinkered with it some and got it running a little better but not sure. Curt commented that it runs and stops okay. When I got it the crankcase had gas mixed with the oil due to a bad fuel pump. That is the reason Rob, the guy I got it from, quit driving it. he bought it in 2011 but was transferred out of state and could not take the patrols with him. the patrol was in Kansas when I got them but it was originally from Colorado. it has a sticker from a telluride museum on the door glass.
