Bucket Seats Options

I'm thinking of putting a pair of comfortable seats in the '69. I like the seats in my Benzes and VW seats have always treated my tender, comfort-lovin' backside well. I'm 6'4" so increased height from the stock position wouldn't likely work well
Any thoughts?

My 1969 arrive to me with bucket sets from a 4 door Datsun 510. Although the buckets lacked headrests, they were comfortable and fit the mounting mounting points with little modification.
I removed the seats prior to taking any clear photos.

Interesting idea. Leads me to wonder about Altimas and the like.
After I submitted the thread, I saw a stock seat recovered and rebuilt with a liberal use of foam rubber (the Mad Plaid). If proper bolsters and leather can be done on the stockers, mo' betta.

I just tried to put buckets seats in my Patrol. I tried a Mazda 3 and some other seats. They all were too big in every direction. I could hardly slide in under the steering wheel.
I think Golf seats would be too big as well. I'd be interested to see if anyone has used them.
The idea of a small vehicle of the 70's vintage sounds good. Will investigate Datsun 620 and 720 if I can find some - although I would like a head rest.

Datsun 200B (810) seats are fairly compact with headrests, if you can find them in decent condition but the headrests don't allow full tilt to access the toolbox or battery.
Similar vintage japanese seats with removeable headrests are what my 74 has but not sure what vehicle they're from.
If the tilt function isn't important then the Toyota Paseo seats I have in my 510 are good looking, slim and nicely bolstered...but only accomodate narrower backsides.
Cheers,
D

Thanks for the info, folks. I will continue to look into these options, including simply making the stockers better. For now, getting it recommissioned and doing some stuff "below the waterline" means cosmetics and interior will have to wait.

I'm hoping folks have had some additional front bucket seat experiences since the last post. Old 510 or similar seats definitely look like they'd be a nice fit, but prices on these, even in poor condition have gone pretty high lately. I'm hoping someone here has had some experience with a new aftermarket solution that fits well. I've tried
Bestop TrailMax II Classics and
Smittybilt Low Back Bucket Seats and both had seat and back thicknesses that were too deep for anyone taller than 5'2" to comfortably drive the truck. I'm currently using a
EWANYO Engineering tractor seat which gets the job done, but is actually too small.
So, any new tips here for new aftermarket (or even common salvage) front bucket seats that are good fit for 60 series Patrols?

Thanks, but still interested in aftermarket options. Anyone?
