Fuse Block/Minor Rewiring Question

Adding a few things to the Patrol this weekend - put in a fuel regulator and a gauge so I could monitor everything, bought a new fuel pump & I'm relocating it so it's not so high and far away from the tank, basically just cleaning it up a bit. Though I think I'm actually undoing what the PO did as I presume it was hard fuel lines all the way to the original pump, in which case not sure why they put the new pump in the engine bay instead of where they cut the line, but I digress.

While looking at the prior job I was wondering a few things:
I checked with a test light and it looks that every single fuse block connection point is always hot. It's a true 69 and I'm thinking that can't be right? The car was not running when I tested, just the ignition was on. Is my wiring more messed up than I thought or is this how Patrols are? Also, is the bottom row even fused at all?

Second question is the PO placed an inline fuse to the thermostat after splicing it into the red wire (2nd from bottom left). Correct me if I'm wrong, but I see no reason to not rip all of that out and just wire the thermostat directly into one of the fuses on the block. Cut out the middle man and make everything much cleaner.

That's not the original fuse block, so your wiring is far from original. That bottom row is not fused at all. With both of the white/red wires connected to the bottom that would make sense why they are all hot with the key one - those come from the alternator and to the amp gauge, normally. It looks like the 2 green/white wires and the green and red wires are fused, which I think are turn signals, brake lights and I forget what the red wire is. Good luck?

This sums it up. Thanks as always for the info. While digging around underneath and routing new wires I found things cut, wires going to nowhere, and more hack jobs beyond reproach. It's a bloody mess.

I do have the correct fuse block for the 69. It is different than most of the older ones. It needs to be cleaned up and the contact terminals scrubbed down but should work. If you want it PM me and I will ship it out and let you know shipping cost s if needed. It still has the wire ends attached which may help but the wiring diagram shows color codes and terminal locations. I would use all new fuses of the right size.
