Bikini top for 69 patrol

Post by 1969nisspatroller »

Hey Patrollers,

Still working on my 69 patrol gonna post some pictures soon once paint job is complete. Main issue I’m currently having is finding a suitable bikini top for it. Any site references or product references would be great. I’ve searched a bunch of site and I’ve tried directly contacting manufacturers and gotten nothing yet

As long as you have a roll bar behind the seats for it to drape over, a generic Bestop Jeep CJ7 Bikini top can be made to work. It will fit in the factory windshield channel, and the rear straps are long enough to reach down to the rear wheel wells

They'll work but if you leave your doors on you'll have a gap at the top whereas the Jeeps don't. Sadly (that I'm aware of at least) we also don't have the option for half doors which would mitigate that issue as well. Probably not a deal breaker for many, but something to keep in mind.

Well,it depends on what year Patrol you have. On mid-66 and older Patrols (the ones with the recessed outer door handles), the top half of the door frames can be removed, but yes- it is a pain. ;)

Well now I'm a little jealous mine is a 69. I seem to recall reading the doors aren't interchangeable either as the hinges are different.

Not sure about a hinge change but I know that latches were changed in mid 1968 to the final style.
