Swivel Folding Jump Seats

Greetings,
I have been looking for a better rear seat option. The troop rear doors are the best entry point for sure. I need forward facing swivel jump seats that fold against the sidewall when not in use. A gap between the seats allows the use of the rear doors. The older we get I have there is just no easy way to get into a rear facing double seat, though they are more comfortable.

Specs:
Sidewall or floor mount
Flip and Fold towards sidewall
One for each side leaving a walkway between so passenger entering from the rear door can pass between
Rugged Construction

I'm looking at the 98-2005 Ford Ranger rear jump seats to see if they can be made to work? Ebay has one on there at this time. The web shows the ideal seat, thought it is made in China. I did send them an email.

All thoughts and directions are appreciated as always.

Please post a photo or link to the "ideal" seat.
Thanks,

Zed,

I use my wife's Mac for this forum and because it is not a real computer the commands are impossible to figure out without a manual so I can't cut and paste. However, googling Ford Ranger Jump Seat gets you there quick but no need as I went to the Ranger forum and they showed the installation thereof. At the end of the day they are like all the others. They are side wall mounted but you face the centerline of the truck rather than facing forward. Same goes for the Nissan jump seat.

Plan A
I need a REAL DOT seat because they need to stand up to weight and off roading so the boat seats just are not sufficient for my needs.

So I am shopping for a floor or preferably sidewall mounted jump seat that folds flat against the sidewall when not in use.

Step 1 would be to fold down the base then flip up the back rest. The key design point is that they must be DOT (salvaged) approved so they will be rugged enough for my needs.

Plan B
I can bolt in a transverse plate steel support approximately over the rear axles and then bolt forward folding seats to that support. Perhaps with slim width jump seats a person can step over the support and between the seats. That might work too. We only need about 12"-16" between the seats for the pass through.

Still looking.

The link I provided actually uses folding jump seats from a GMC S-10 so they are DOT, they just happen to be mounting them in a boat. The same instructions could be modified to work for a Patrol I think.

And...a Mac is more of a real computer than anything Microsoft could ever dream of. :snooty: Keyboard shortcuts are the same - Control + C for copy, Control + V for paste.
