Phoenix Patrol for Sale (Again)
Greetings,
I just retrieved Phoenix Patrol (Blue 66) from the transmission shop. It now has a completely rebuilt transmission. It is a fully sorted 66 rust free, body damage free, Patrol bumper to bumper with a PTO winch. Next week the two small seal leaks, from not enough driving will be fixed. The only two things that don't work are the fuel gauge (it has a new sending unit from Columbia) and heater leaks fluid so it is disconnected at the firewall.
This is the Blue 66 featured in "Patrolling the Alpine Loop", Just Google Patrolling the Alpine Loop, Field Ethos recently re-published the article as well.
Everything is new or rebuilt with the best parts known as generally noted below:
- New Soft Top and Frame
- Rebuilt Transmission & Pinion Bearing
- Re=Cored Radiator
- Re-Lined Fuel Tank and Lines
- Rebuilt VX 42 Carb
- Newly Rebuilt OEM Wiper Motors, New Arms and Rubber
- New Clutch Plate and Adjustment
- New Shows and New Leaf Springs to Effect 2" lift
- New Huge Tires (not to my taste but they came with it)
- Perfect Steering Wheel (no cracks)
- New Plugs and Perfect Motor Tune
- New FRP Interior Door Panel
I simply don't know of a weak point, though the paint did chip off on the lower interior doors
I simply have too many Patrols to keep enough driving time on them as hard as I try.
Hopefully my 06 three Patrol patrol will occur on November 4th pending my guests can clear their schedules. That will be photo shoot with my 65 and two 66s, including Phoenix Patrol. The red 65 and 66 Punkin/P1Patrol are mechanically sorted while Phoenix Patrol is sanded and painted. After that I just need to get the 66 Phoenix Patrol out of my way so we can focus on the finish out of P1 Patrol paint and door mods.
Why am I selling Phoenix Patrol? Well P1 has a break master cylinder upgrade which will be handy in the high mountains plus I simply can use a soft top like I can use a topless Patrol. One soft top (Command & Control Vehicle 5, 63) is enough for my needs.
I have $40,000 invested and it is probably worth every penny of that based on the quality of the sheet metal and parts. I will listen to offers though it isn't a fire sale. Every time I take it out it draws a crowd and my home area is a collectors car market so if you want a fully sorted 66 Patrol please let know.

Re: Phoenix Patrol for Sale (Again)
Greetings.
I was flagged down by a interested party in Lake City while driving my white 63. He was a car builder from S Carolina and was amazed he had never seen one before. Anyway, I priced my blue 66 to him for $35,000. With last month’s transmission rebuild I have over $40,000 in it.
I directed him to this forum for details.
Who knows. I bought the first one I ever saw.
