Gas Tank Pickup Tube

Won't run? Engine, cooling system, fuel pump, carb, clutch, tranny, brakes, etc. The old messages from the NPCA 'Engine & Mechanical' category are here.

Gas Tank Pickup Tube

Post by jwptrol »

What is the configuration of the 1965 gas tank pickup tube? Check ball? Engine runs on gas can so fuel pump works. Won't draw gas from tank. Line clear. Vehicle sat for a long time. Pickup tube has three screws that look like they've been soldered in by the factory. Doesn't look like it's going to come out easily. Cannot blow into tank with compressed air. Cannot get gas to flow with a hand operated suction pump. Thoughts?

The pickup tube isn't removable from the tank. I went through the same thing last year. Your pickup tube is plugged at the bottom of the tank. I used cable on a drill to clear it. see the thread here: viewtopic.php?f=4&t=6022&p=48594&hilit= ... ube#p48594
Beyond any hope for intervention
