Any body have or know where I can get a distributor body with an intact point spring mount/ bakalite insulator? Went to remove the points for a quick filing of the contacts (poor man’s tuneup) and mine crumbled to dust. I found the pertronix conversions and ordered two of those, but I prefer the points & condenser factory setup. In retrospect I should have just filed them in place and lived with the engine running as it was. It’s a water protect version 1969.

The plastic insulator comes pressed into the points. Some were plastic/nylon, some were Bakelite.
The point sets are available. They also fit the British/Japanese E1 four cylinder engine in my L320 pickup.
I’ll PM you my contact info, then mail you a used set.
Wary of newfangled stuff, I’ve carried the points “just in case” for the past 6 years and 6k miles since converting to Pertronics in my 68 Patrol.

The part I’m looking for is actually riveted onto the plate. Not part of the points. I have a few sets of spare points I bought from the Datsun dealer here in town years ago. If you look at the pic and zoom in you can see the ear of the insulator is broken off. It won’t hold the leaf spring reliably on the points. I could just install the pertronics but I would never be able to go back to points without that intact insulator. Point are EMP proof right? Lol
