Bakelite Choke and Light Knobs

Perhaps I’m the last to know the shafts running through the dash to each of these knobs is not the same diameter. Now knowing this I can report that Niles Light switches available on eBay are replacements for the light switch.

However, I can’t find the Choke switch yet.

If anyone knows the set screw thread and diameter of the light switch knob then a longer screw can be threaded in and then the light knob can be used as the choke knob and a drimmel can be used to convert the L for light into a C for choke.

If we can find the right set screw.

I recall sending you a set screw or two. Although I think there may not be a universal size for the set screws because you said they didn't work for your knobs, even though I took a light switch knob with me when I bought them. The size that fit my light switch knob was 4mm x .75.

RiverPatrol you have a memory like a bear trap. All of that is correct. The problem is that the light knob set screw is different from the choke knob set screw. However, my back up plan is to look towards the hand throttle knob. I think they match the choke and are usually in good shape.

Plus the surface of the Bakelite knob is easy to sand. It might be possible to sand off the T with a Drimmel then etch in a C with a good stencil.

Well that is my winter project.
