SD33T pistons search

Post by jwgreen »

All, my machine shop is looking for true automobile SD33T pistons for a rebuild. They are not interested in the forklift pistons as they say they are not as robust as the automobile ones. If anyone has an idea of where to source them, even if they are in Australia please let me know. Thanks in advance.

Justin, that motor was used in the early to mid 1980s IH Scout II. I know I had one. Maybe the IH Scout Club would know.

Thanks David, I found a source down under which had the correct ones.

The machine shop guy was saying there is a big difference between the forklift and automotive pistons as the forklift ones are designed to run at a constant RPM while the automotive ones are made to run at varying RPM's. I don't have any clue on this but this is what they told me and he has been building engines since before I was born so I trust him.
