Alternative fuel gauge & sender setup on my 1967.

You order these in various lengths to accommodate your specific application. I ordered mine a bit shorter than I should have (ordered 8", should have gotten 9") Upside is that I have a healthy reserve!

I would have installed on the vertical panel of the seat box facing the door, so as soon as you open the door you could activate the gauge.

I looked at that face as well but ruled it out given my ability to hit things, delicate things, with my size 12 boots….

I agree with Esteban, it works and doesn't change the classic dash.

Food for file. I've driven all my Patrols dawn to dusk at 5-15 MPH and never used more than 10 gallons. I have one fuel gauge that works. It is on my white 63, RiverPatrol sold me her last OEM temperature sending unit.

Now, please apply your expertise to find a motor temperature sending unit replacement. That is an important gauge and I've bought every "alternative" our board digs up but I haven't been able to make any of them work. The alternate/modern sending units are shorter (25% -+ shorter) in length than the OEM sending units, though they fit the thread pattern and screw in properly.

But then again as River Patrol told me, "if the OEM brass radiator is rebuilt and working properly it is almost impossible to overhead the motor". That has also been my case as crawling all day while hunting from the Patrols is considered sever duty.

Well, today I found a water temp sending unit that "looks" like it may work at www.finditparts.com part # 25080-89900, though it lacks threads but the length looks right. I bought four, if it works I'll report back. I give it less that 50% chance but maybe Eddie can make it work.

Where in the world is this located? I poked around today before my trouble like puked out on me.

CHECK THAT QUESTION ABOVE. I found the sensor. No wire attached to it and mine has a tiny brass screw in the center to attach the wire.

Any more updates on a workable temp sensing unit? We tried one of the Helmar ones and it did not work on our 1964/1967, appears to be from a later vintage.
