Farewell from Soft60

Hello all - I was about to put my 69 Soft Top on BaT when a good friend who always liked it expressed interest and made a fair offer. He and his family live in Santa Barbara, so It will live a good life and I was glad to "keep it in the family". I am also glad that I didn't need to run the risk that it didn't meet reserve and I would have two old cars and only one garage spot (I leave Saturday for Vancouver where I will pick up my 68 Mercedes 280SL and start what I hope is a very memorable drive down the west coast - wish me luck).

Jim is a great guy, but new to the classic car world and I have told him about the great community here and will be joining shortly. As my goodbye, I wanted to share the photos taken by the BaT photographer, which I quite like but would otherwise never be seen.

I really appreciate all the support and guidance I received here and hope for nothing but Happy Patrolling for all!

Good for you. That is a beauty. Yours is a bit interesting, though a 69 it has early 60's doors, windshield and steering wheel. May I ask if your sheet metal is generally from a 69? If so, you have successfully mated a 69 tub to a 61-64 doors. Please explain.

Good luck on the drive, I've had a 280 SL and loved it.

Rolling and Patrolling,
