I need some help from every Patrol owner in the USA
Howdy everyone.....If you own a Patrol you need to read this and PLEASE respond. I have been doing much much work trying to find parts for our Patrols, I am not willing to except that we are screwed and that when Nissan says it is not available then that is it. Recently I have found out that NissanAutoParts.com only searches USA stock for parts...due to the buericratic BS Nissan will not allow us to buy parts outside this country (it has to do with money)....it is highly possibly that everything for the 60 series is available outside this country. I have spoke with several insiders at Nissan of America and they are also working hard on helping us but....We all need to get together as a group and write up a petition/letter to Nissan of Japan. We need as many of you as possible to particapate in this inquiry to Japan. Peggy at NissanAutoParts spoke yesterday with the man responsible for the Patrol, he didn't offer alot but is checking on some things, he did say we need to do this in order to convince Nissan that selling us 60 series parts is worth their time. The reason all of you are having such a hard time finding parts for your Patrol is you are only able to buy NOS in the USA and that is dwindeling, soon it will be gone forever. I have already sent 3 letters to Japan in an effort to get us parts but...by myself it will not go far. What has to happen is we all have to sign a petition/letter to Nissan of Japan and I mean many many of you. Peggy and a few other people are working hard to help us and this is what they told me we need to do to help ourselves......SO PLEASE PLEASE RESPOND TO THIS POST! Secondly, we need to contact Mr.K as he will also be able to help us...not sure how yet but contact with him has to be made. Lastly, I am working on verifying number changes in parts for the 60 series....using the wild card that Grant told us about I am coming up with tons of stuff, trannies, engines and other things. With the help of a few insiders at Nissan we might be able to find out if these are 60 series parts. Keep your fingers crossed... Thanks a bunch everyone for your time...if we all get together as a group and work together as 60 series Patrol owners I feel very strongly that we can make this happen...one man can't do s**t but a hundred men (women) can move mountians...please take the time to read this and respond, we have to help each other or our beloved Patrol is doomed. >>Recently I have found out that NissanAutoParts.com only >>searches USA stock for parts... Actually that is not true, and it is even worse than that. Ill explane. Any NISSAN dealer can check the overseas whearhouse in JAPAN and such, they do it all the time! But, it does not mean that part will be sent here to fill our order. I have had Peggy check on parts in JAPAN, and they came back "cancled". I thought that ment that the part did not exist in JAPAN. On further investigation Peggy noted that the part may actually be there on a shelf in JAPAN, but they just dont want to go throught the trouble of shipping it here to the USA to fill the order. Because they dont think it is worth it. By law car companys only have to supply parts for, I belive, 5 years... maybe ten. So what ever we do we need to be tackful, because they could tell us to step off! I agree with you 100% about the petition letter! Peggy noted, and I agree with here, that a HARD COPY sent to NISSAN of JAPAN will have more of an impact then some SOFT COPY email thing. The problem is how do we put togther a petition? It would be hard to send a page around to everyone to sign... So, what I sugest is we come up with a FORM, post it here in the DOCUMENTS section, have everyone download it, SIGN IT, and send it to someone to combined all of them into one package and send it off to NISSAN of JAPAN to REQUEST that they FILL OUR ORDERS!!!! I also agree that we need to find "Mr. K" someone noted that he attends some of the Datsun 510 rallys. There is supose to be a list of the rallys but I couldnt find it, we need to get in contact with him!! Anyway, as Fud noted, we need to make this a consintrated effort to be noticed by NISSAN of JAPAN. All of us going off seperatlly will not have the same effect! Better then doing nothing, but I belive the petition is the way to go! Grant Senn P.S. 67 L60 67 KL60 72 240Z

>>Let us know who to contact. Well, what I invision is we will come up with a standard petition form, upload the soft copy here, and to a mass emailing to all the members here telling them to download it, print it out (HARD COPY) sign it, send it to a centeral location (ie Fud), package all of them togther with a title page and mail it off to NISSAN of JAPAN. If we send them out onezie twozie... I dont think it will have the same impack as a big book size of signatures? But I could be wrong, there is something to be said about being inindated with hundreds of individual letters as apposed to one big one... Hmmm maybe we should do both! One thing for sure, *we* need to make it as easy as we can for everyone to do it, otherwise it wont get done! That is to say, not everyone has as much spare time on thier hands as Fud and I Grant

Great to see at least Grant wants to help get it going.....hopefully more of you will to when you see this post. A friend of mine gave me an idea for it today....someone (me) gets everyones adress, I mail you a simple thing to sign and put in your year and vin #. I also include a stamped return enveplope. Once I have at least 300 letters I send them all in a binder type deal in hard form to Nissan of Japan. I am willing to do something like this, I can handle the expense in stamps.... We will need to be professional about it and as Grant said no email BS to Japan. Here is a bit more to help motivate all of you out there, Peggy and another at NissanAutoParts checked a $6000 order for me, faxes back and forth, they wrote in next to parts how many numbers are available for each....out of the 6K only $1700 is available. Here are a few things NLA; brake lining, points, main engine gasket (1 in country), oil filter (1 in country), brake springs, distributor, wheel bearings (4 left in country), valve cover gaskets (5 left in country), front leaf springs, rear wheel cylinders, knuckle flange seals and guards, front and rear brake lines, oil bath element and so on and so on. Now you might find a few more of these things left on the shelf here but you will need diffrent part numbers than in my 65 book and I can garantee you you won't find much. It is almost all gone for USA stock and then that is it as far as Nissan of America is concerned. many of the basic parts you and I need to keep our Patrol on the road is already gone....So if you want to keep your Patrol converted free then we have to do this...otherwise I don't see how anyone is going to get the parts. Peggy told me her searches only span the USA and that everything for our Patrols could possibly be out there but we have to get the attention of Nissan of Japan first or gave over on Nissan parts very soon. I have lots of unverified part numbers coming up but the only way to find out if they are Patrol parts is to order them...I tried for the knuckle flange seals using to mystery part numbers and neither came can available. Knuckle flange seals are soooo important, same with points...in my honest opinion we are screwed with out them. Anyways hopefully we can get a bunch of support and get this together so we all can keep enjoying our Patrols just as they were meant to be.....we all need parts so we all need to do something.

I think your best bet would be to upload a standard form here, then use the MSN "mail all members" thing via email and ask them to download this standard form, print it out, and then mail it to you. If you take care of everything else, I think folks will have enough time and money to affored the time to fill it out buy a stamp and envolope. If you need more info on the MSN "mail all members" thing get with Stephen F. Smith He will know how to do it, and if there is anything I can do to help out let me know. I have a few feelers out too with some folks in what would be the best way to do this and get the att we want and the results we need!! Grant

Keep the ideas coming...yours sound fine to me if it will work. I contacted Stephen already....this will take hundreds and hundreds of peoples support so what ever is easy is best and least cost wise too. In the end all I/we/you/everyone wants is parts.....already a few guys have responded so if that keeps up we should be able to get a plan and put it into action. A petition will get their attention, maybe a few other things...nice cover letter representing all Patrol owners, letter from Peggy and maybe some support from Mr.K...I sure hope so.
