I have a 1969 Nissan Patrol. My hydraulic clutch cylinder leaks itself dry in a couple of  days. Is it better to replace it with a new one? If so does anyone have a part number?  Or can it be rebuilt? I have never messed with this before, would I be getting in over my head?  It doesn't take much to get me there... I sure  do appreciate the help I have received. This patrol has got to be my favorite 4x4, no rust, no dents  and I am enjoying it a bunch.... Thanks in advance for any advice.

Hi, My experience with reconditioned slaves or master cylinders haven't been that good. I would consider replacement over reconditioning. Standard Girling units can be retrofitted if original Nissan units can't be found.

Any dealer worth his salt can check the national Nissan stock for your part. I have purchased rebuild kits from them and have been happy with the results. A hint though. Go to the oldest Nissan dealer in your area and find a part clerk with the patients to look up old Patrol parts. They should have the microfisch or part book to look up the number. If you have no luck with them them e-mail me and I'll get you the part number so you can contact Nissanautoparts.com.                          Good Luck ,    Gary

I used the NAPA number for the master cylinder rebuild.  I think the kit was about $10.  It has tons of extra little parts for other makes, but it works great for the Patrol.  Look for the # under compatible parts... The slave cylinder I rebuilt using the kit # from Nissan.  Worked great as well. jeepcj_6@yahoo.com
