Exhaust Replacement

Won't run? Engine, cooling system, fuel pump, carb, clutch, tranny, brakes, etc. The old messages from the NPCA 'Engine & Mechanical' category are here.

Re: Exhaust Replacement

Post by zed »

I have been examining the photos and illustrations of the exhaust routing. Since the Patrol was original designed as a RHD vehicle, it would have been appropriate for the tailpipe to be positioned to the rear left quadrant of the vehicle (based on the extended exhaust version in the RHD brochures). This would have ensured that the driver would be positioned the furthest from the fumes.
For the LHD vehicle, wouldn’t the preferable tailpipe placement be rear right quadrant of the vehicle?
Also, what muffler have you used to have an original appearance of your exhaust system?
Thanks,
Keith

Here's a vid of my 2 1/2" exhaust exiting just in front of the rear tyre.

With the rear left side exaust pipe does the muffler still sit at the passenger side in the step frame? I can see on my patrol it once had this configuration but now just exiys out the right side in front of the wheel. The muffler is just kind of laying in the step frame.

It is supposed to be behind the step frame.
Beyond any hope for intervention
