Hello to All -1976 SWB SOFT TOP Restoration
Hi All,
My name is James and I am in Perth, Western Australia. I own a 1976 SWB Soft Top Nissan Patrol and was hoping someone could advise me of where best to have it restored in WA. It is mechanically sound but needs rust removal work as well as some additional work such as seatbelts. Any assistance in pointing me towards the right place to have the vehicle restored would be much appreciated.
Thank you for your assistance,
James

Welcome James. I'm a Victorian so cant really suggest any places for you sorry. I know we used to have a member from WA but not sure if he is still active. Local knowledge is gold when it comes to finding a place like this. You obviously will be parting with a decent amount of money and you want to be sure they will do a good job.

Haha... I just checked your location James, and my best advice is to put your Patrol on a boat for Texas, and ask Keith (Zed) about a good restoration shop in the Dallas area...

Re: Hello to All -1976 SWB SOFT TOP Restoration
Gentlemen,
it seems no one is rushing at me with a solution to full restoration in Perth WA so I thought I would ask a second question.
The vehicle has the original 16 inch split rims and currently has Trojan tyres on it, 'Made in Australia' which seem to no longer be available.
A. Are these the original tyres for a 1976 SWB Soft Top?
B. If not can you advise me what were original?
C. If the answer to B is no longer available can you advise me of the widest, tallest and possibly best tire to put on the original rim for on road and off road combined use.
Thanking you in advance,
James

Are you just after rust removal/repair and seatbelts or a drive in/drive out shop that will do a full resto? I can recommend a mechanic, canvas place, motor trimmer and could chase up a few other contacts too.

Hi mate,
No those tyres are not original. Are you looking for an original replacement or the tallest and widest tyre that you can get? Because both are very different.
You can still get similar tyres to original.
If you want to go bigger, a 33x10.5 looks really good on original style rims and looks correct to the period.
BF Goodrich make an all terrain and a muddy in that size and are a top brand

Teza - thank you for your thoughts. Yes, ideally I would like to find a one stop shop that could do all required and thus would be drive in drive out. If I can't find this I would welcome any referrals you may know of for rust repair. Thank you James.
Miller - thank you for confirming these were not the original tires. I wanted to replace with the tallest and widest I can fit on the original rims. Thank you for your suggestion of the BF Goodrich All Terrain. James
