Clutch Slave Rebuild?

I found the source of two problems today. First, all of the clutch fliud of my '69 has leaked out of the slave cylinder. Second, I was getting horrible odor that I couldn't figure out. Well, the fluid was leaking onto the exhaust and burning...talk about some rotten eggs. Anyways, has anyone rebuilt their slave cylinder and is there some kit or new one available out there? The Chiltons book says it is similar to rebuilding the brake cylinders, but that also takes a kit right? If anyone has a new one or knows about the kit, thanks for sharing

Hey xpatrolx The original rebuild kit part number is: 30620-08025 But when I ordered it I got the updated number: 30620-08027 It cost me $2.90 This is typical, so not to worry. Only thing is I got it as a spare. That is to say I have not actually done it. I also got a complete new clutch slave cylinder. The part number is: 30620-08000 It cost me $28.60 And just encase your thinking about replacing the clutch master cylinder; here is the part number for that: 30610-46500 It cost me $68.35 I have rebuild cylinders in the past on other vehicles... There are two possibilities. One your rubber is shot and needs to be replaced, that the kit will provide. Two your cylinder is pitted.. That could be a show stopper. In that if they are deep, you may not be able to hone them out enough, thus a new rubber wont help. So, looking at the price I would suggest going for the complete cylinder. Good Luck Grant

I used teh same kit from Nissan and it works great if you have a reasonable slave cylinder to start with. Takes mere minutes to put it in. Then all you do is bleed it which can be a 1 person job. What a life saver!
