Rebound stopper rod

Post by Jscherer »

Any body have a spare rebound stopper rod? Looks like I’m going to have to cut one off.
I could make one but it would be nice to have an original.

Thanks
Happy trails

I need one for mine and will be making it. If it goes well I’ll make a couple of extras.

I had a few spare minutes today and made a door stopper rod. I had an original as a pattern which helped get the dimensions right.

In case someone else wants a guide, here’s the process I used:

24mm metal slug
7mm steel rod at 7 inches length
Drilled center in slug to 7mm +0.1mm so it fit rod tightly (now a washer)
Oxy/Acetylene to heat end of rod and peened on anvil to shape.
Heated and fullered other end of rod for detent.
Drilled 15/64th hole in first end.
Welded on washer at end hole for original finish.

Turned out nice and glad to have one more thing complete.
