Thanks Leslie, I agree the stance is perfect  . I’m still not sure. I just hate to cut up the doors and pull out the glass as it will mean another one bites the dust. Though I could go odorless, that not a bad option either. At least I could save the doors in tact for a later day. Me… change my mind..never. :liar:

On another note…was the replacement steering wheel better that the original?

Thank you again,

Has anybody come up with a new door design? If we choose to take the original doors off and still want something there, like the new Jeeps offer a few options....like this

https://www.ledfactorymart.com/products ... PcQAvD_BwE

Have any of our members created a bungee/rope/pvc/conduit homemade door....made to fit for a similar look for our Patrols? If so, please share!

I support your door idea and it sure would save a few good doors from getting chopped. Having run a Patrol without doors it sure makes getting in and out easy....but you can expect mud on your legs. A skeleton door with a solid bottom half would be perfect in my opinion. The hangers would be easy, getting it to latch and stay shut will be the trick.

Patrolling agin soon,

I don't recall anyone going to the extent of making canvas doors or anything similar. One early soft tops there was actually this option:

I was planning to make some tube doors for my 1967 and will probably just use some sort of aftermarket slide latch since there will be no upper part to limit access.

Thank you Leslie. It must be fun to see a Patrol leave but it is much more fun to see one drive into the driveway for the first time!

Patrol P1 and that driver with the mohawk  arrives Friday  and we have the work area all set up for the final details and paint this winter. But first it will likely go to the 06 for an extended field test the first weekend in November. Hopefully, if the ranch is moving cattle, we will have a 3 Patrol patrol of the 06 with plenty of pictures.

Thanks again,

It would be so cool to have video of 3 Patrols herding cattle. 8-) :auto-swerve: :animals-cow:

Transit Saga,

Based on the expedited price I paid it was supposed to be here yesterday. Now maybe tomorrow
afternoon.

I booked the transport from a recommended booking agent and paid a 30% premium to get a "direct" shot from Temecula to San Antonio. However, the "respectable" booking agent hired the most despicable land pirate he could find. So naturally it isn't coming direct or within days of when I contracted for. So at this point, after speaking with the transporter, which signed a contract for $100/day late charges, if I don't pay the full amount they will not give me the Patrol...regardless of when it arrives.

You should have heard all the different reasons my problem was not the booking agents problem. As I voiced my concerns and asked for some of my money back he said to just wait and see how it turns out. He then said it wasn't nearly as bad as it could. I said what do you mean? He said, well, you could lose your car. I replied with...I just don't know what to say. I thought I was paying a premium to book with a reputable agent with reputable transporters but clearly you are just the first land pirate in line. He took no responsibility what so ever.

So I'm delaying my departure in hopes it arrives Sunday afternoon.

Though this will all work itself out my one regret is that I will need to chop off the upper doors frames to make the lines look right when it is topless. Ford with the mid 60s Bronco and Nissan just got the doors wrong while IH, GM and Land Rover got them right. It makes a big different to the my eye. Oh well, that all starts next week.

Rolling and Patrolling,

:( Dammit, it was coordinating so well. I'm sorry to hear this and feel partly responsible since I relayed the transport source. :(
