Re: Swerve 1973 MWB Soft Top
hehe, well spotted there!!!
Yes, she's arrived safely today.
Got a call early this morning from a surprised operator at Carways, saying:
Hugo, we've got like an old Patrol here for you??
I says: "righto, I'll be right there".
Don't think he was expecting a car like that for me as usually we ship Nissan Elgrands and Toyota Estima's with them, 8 seater vans we deal in...
Anyways, she's here. Drove her home today, 43 kms of pure 3 speed terror!!!
Takes a little getting used to I tell you... No power steering either, ahhh it all adds to the character of the beast I suppose.
Both my vintage Landcruisers have factory power steering, one even has factory a/c!!
But, she's in great condition, well worth preserving, that's for sure.
Thanks Steve, for selling it to me, I'll look after it as best I can!

Hugo, really glad its gone to a collector and not a user so to speak.
They are really nice to drive once you get used to it, so much for my 72 staying with rebuilt engine/ 3 speed / transfer even though I have a 5 speed. really looking forward to your insight against a FJ40.
Welcome again buddy to Patrols

Re: Swerve 1973 MWB Soft Top
I assume when the comparison is done it will be on even playing field 73 vs 73 not 73 vs 1980,and no bias for either brand, just each car taken on its merits.
the 73 land cruiser was a three speed four speed models being introduced in 74,its also debatable whether 4 speed is of any advantage over the three speed,as a note, as discovered in the simpson desert trip ,three speed vs 5 speed marks,it was concluded that there was no advantage in fuel economy or performance.
Bring it on toyota,oh sorry toy
