60Patrol

Here is my patrol and this is my build? I know it needs a bunch of work. As much as I'd like restore it, I do not have in me.. I'm looking to make it road worthy and drivable. So I;m going to keep it as stock as possible with some thoughtful upgrades. I'll address the rust maybe even slap on some new paint. I doubt I'll make it like new, she earned all those bumps and bruises. If I can, I'll take her back to the soft top it was born with, but for now I do have a hard top.

I think it was originally a dark green, I'll have to do some more research. I haven't seen that color I'm finding under things..



fix the rust, suspension, brakes, seats, add a winch?

Haha, good on you. I hope to see you bring more life into it. You'll have to at least paint the fenders!!

all the bolts are out , I just need to disconnect the muffler and the empty some fuel...

Shouldn't be horrible. I've had that tub off in the last few years. I hope the frame still looks as solid.

Well lets try this again, I just deleted my post...

The back end looks good but the front is a mess..Already my plans are changing, I wanted to just patch the cab floors but they are way to far gone, and the outboard body mounts along with the cross member is a bit compromised.. I'm sure it will look worse once I get the fenders off.. The new plan is to pick up some 16ga steel diamond plate. Although I'm not sure if I'm keeping the "boxes" or going with a flat floor and seat risers. My battery is under the hood so I really don;t need the spot under the seat... Although I thought it would make a great spot for an air tank, or just more storage..

Oh and I read on Rawmls post that a YJ fuel tank will fit in the frame rails, but the filler is on the wrong side. Knowing that, a CJ will then also fit and have the filler on the correct side..

More info please! I'm a Jeep dummy so I don't know the difference between a YJ and a CJ. Years built? How does the tank mount up? What kind of fuel line connector does it have? Details! Details!

I'm using a 20 Gallon Jeep Wrangler Fuel Tank. The rear width of the Patrol is identical to the Jeep Wrangler. This made it easy to install a tank. The tank however has the fuel filler neck on the driver's side rather than the passenger side. It doesn't have an internal fuel pump so I mounted one inside the frame rail above the rear axle.

He is using fuel injection on his, my CJ7 was a carb


I did a body swap with a wrangler tub onto an 85 CJ frame and I know the tanks fill from opposite sides... It's common swap as YJ's have a galvanized tub. plus the square opening allows a larger tire and looks better. The drill is to move the liscense plate to the drivers side and make a new opening for the filler or swap to the YJ tank... I guess 86 and down, there are two different sizes 20 and 15? and tons of aftermarket.. I do not know how he mounted it.. I didn't imagine it too hard with an aftermarket skid plate. Also my old green machine had a no patrol tank.. The CJ tank filler opening is at the corner/side, compared to the patrol with it's top location.. I'm not sure where the sender lines up.

Looks like the earlier Tanks 72-77 have a large fuel filler opening... the metal tanks are much cheaper. Plus there's the used market.
