Missing clutch cover?

I was under my Patrol, looking at some things, and noticed a rather large, conspicuous gear hanging down, exposed. I think this is part of the clutch assembly, but wanted to see if I can get someone to help ID it.
I've added two pictures, but I'm not sure they'll help much.
Looking at the parts diagram, I think I'm missing a clutch cover (#9 in the diagram)- can anyone confirm?

Yes I believe you are correct. That cover (and the oilpan) is off mine right now and it looks exactly the same. The gear is the starting gear that wraps the flywheel onto which the clutch assembly bolts. It's easier to see when it's hanging outside the Patrol! Here's a picture of mine...

i wonder if you dropped it while four wheeling? that makes me want to pull mine in the garage and check for loose bolts.

I've only driven it home from where I bought it; it's been sitting in my garage ever since. I suppose it's possible it fell off in the hour that it took to get home, but it's more likely that it was like that when I bought it.

You're probably right. When you go to put the new one on, you'll notice that it is wedged in there pretty tight. There isn't much chance of it just falling out, even if the bolts were missing.
Before you get the new cover, it would be a good idea to determine what bolts you'll need to put it back up there. As I recall the bolts are a standard thread size but they are pretty short, shorter than what you can easily find. I think I have actually cut down bolts to make them fit correctly.

Good to know. I think G60michael is going to be able to hook me up with both the cover and the bolts.
It's awesome to find a site like this, where everyone is willing to go out of their way to help each other!
