60Patrol

Hi all,

well, it took a little time to sort out a weekend where Eddy, myself and a suitable transporter were available - but thanks to Eddy selling his G61 to me and also being an absolute champion helping me get everything across the 200km gap between our addresses, I now have a G61 in my driveway.

These are the "before" shots, and once the '74 is running to my satisfaction this one will be occupying my spare time...

The car itself came on Eddy's car trailer and I brought home another small trailer load, but the previous week my trailer and car were both dragging their bellies bringing this lot home...this wasn't Eddy's first 60 Patrol, so there's multiple grilles / radiators, sets of doors, canopies...and so much more I need to sort through. Again, big thanks to Eddy, must have been hard to part with such a collection after so many years !

P-motor with Hitachi 2-barrel carb ( P40 was already swapped out before Eddy had it, must investigate P motor / 4-speed, must be an adaptor ? )



What I was staring at following it home on the car trailer yesterday



No free hubs ( yet ), and four 15x8 steelies with shot tires



These look home made, but someone may correct me there...



H233 diff I presume...



Dash cluster with KMH only speedo, 4wd light, ashtray, different control knobs...





Clutch slave in different position...



Self indulgent quarter shot...



T130A transfer and right-way-around handbrake ( which works great ! )



4-speed box...





The worst of the rust I have found so far - crossmember will need repair / replacement



Replacement P motor ( ex Swerve / OJ motor - RIP OJ - Recycle Its Pieces, that is )





Dud canopy, but the glass sliding windows should fit my fibreglass canopy...



3 sets doors, 3 grilles, 3 radiators, door trims, rear doors, front bumper, trans covers, late model heater box and controls, set of four 16 x 5.5" splitties...the list goes on, will take time to properly sort and ID everything...







Original floor mats ( will have to wait until the weather warms up before I unroll them )



A pair of 60-something parkers ( mmm, nice - glass ! )



A battered but almost complete 60/G60 service manual ( not sure of the year yet, will carefully inspect it shortly )



And there's still more in the trailer - original seats ( shot ), another windscreen panel with glass, and the canopy ( which is really nicely made and well worth tidying up )...








So there it is - much work to be done before it hits the road but it's the 60 Patrol variant I never expected to own. I've drawn a line under this weekend - THAT'S IT - no more Patrols or parts until progress is made. Now, watch as a shorty and a ute come up for sale near me in the near future and I go back on that... I think I may have a problem...

Nice mate, good to see some early 60's g60 parts in there guess since you haven't got a 1960's G60 you don't need em hey

I see you want a Set of Free Wheeling Hubs, or did I miss read it wrong, I got 2 spare sets here, A set of ''AVM's'' and a Set of "Power Locks", I am also certain the twin barrel Hitatchi Carburettor that I got with my 78 is the exact same , a spare never goes astray, wanna swap haha

yeah, my cup runneth over with Patrol parts right now - I'm gonna have to sort through it all and work out what exactly I have, what I'm going to need and so forth. In the past I've sold stuff that I later regretted letting go, so I'll hold off pulling the trigger on selling stuff for now, sorry - I actually have at least mostly 60's body parts on my '75, so I'm hanging onto the 60's stuff for now. As for the hubs, I have a set of AVMs and a set of Dualmatics to choose from on my donor cars - but cheers for the offer.

Pure Patrol p0rn. Excellent Johnny, and happy to see it ended in the right hands. Hope Eddy keeps in touch.

So great to see Eddy's lot go to someone who will make good use of it. It would be nice to see that G61 running again. You got a nice selection of parts there.

The side steps do look like they are the original ones, that someone welded some diamond plate on top of the step.

Great project, looking forward to seeing your progress on the old girl.

But hey we have all been there, I'm in remission as child forced me back to normality LOL. Seriously good luck and glad to see the G61 in better hands as Eddie got distracted a long time ago.

Your P40 motor will bolt up, you already have the adapter plate and MQ 4 speed.
