another g60 in south oz

Post by darren »

Hi all! I just recently joined your forum and glad to see a lot of very dedicated patrolers. A few years ago I was lucky enough to take ownership of a 1972
swb soft top G60 minus top. It was given to me by my father in-law who had it in Murray Bridge, which he used for going up the river bow and arrow fishing with his sons.
I liked look of the old Patrols and always wanted one but didn't know a lot about them until I started researching them on the internet. Was pleased to see I had scored quite a rare vehicle as there weren't alot around. Since then all I had to do was the brakes, and figure out the starting problem which turned out to be fuel pump which I was able to rebuild. Changed all the fuel lines and hoses and she kicked over straight away.
Since then other things got in the way, house renos and such, until I discovered this forum and got all enthused again and decided to get back into doing her up. I can see if I need any help this is the place to be.

Welcome to 60Patrol! :text-welcomeconfetti: We're glad you found your way here. :greetings-wavingblue:

You have a couple of beautiful children there. The blond one is a little angel. :angelic-little:

That's a stout looking Patrol also. Not often you see a SWB in OZ. Post up some more pics and ask any questions you may have. Someone here will usually try to help out.
Beyond any hope for intervention

Post a picture of the rear axle. I'm curious to see if it has the heavy duty differential that all the Patrols in Australia have, or is the light duty as the ones sold in the USA.

Hi Darren,

thanks for joining the forum, nice to see another 60 Patrol in SA, and in my corner of the state too ! :handgestures-thumbup:

At least there's now a statistical chance I might see another one on the road ( 2 years and no luck so far ) - and it's a shorty...

Good luck with the project, and if you have the time a few more photos of your Patrol would be welcome.

cheers

Thanks guys glad to be part of it still having some trouble resizing some pics my computer dosn't want to play nice i'll get to it with the wifes laptop on the weekend untill then i put some pics on michaels facebook site yes mike that was me. i dont believe its the heavy duty diff when i get some pics i'll get u to let me know from what i can tell its a 72 mwu but hard to read that part of the plate as it has the rivit covering the make couple of things i would like to find is some rear seats soft top frame crank handle and of course wouldn't mind one those diffs i'm hearing so much about
apart from that she in pretty good shape motor runs well says 317000 on the clock but i suspect the engine had some sort of rebuild done as it has almost new head gasket anway look forward to swapping ideas if any of the other south ozs need a hand with anything i'm located on gawler side of adelaide and always happy to help
