Early Patrol Steering Wheel

Post by ShowMePatrol »

Looking for an early Patrol steering wheel. Mine is in bad shape. If I can't locate one, is anyone aware of a restoration service for steering wheels?

Thanks!!

I need to have ours restored as well -- I love the early Patrol steering wheels!

I found this place awhile ago -- I haven't seen their work in person, but I think they'd be worth a call. http://qualityrestorations.com/

I wonder if they'd give us a bulk discount if several of us send them in at the same time.

I sent Dennis an email about restoring our early Patrol steering wheels. Asked for an estimate for one steering wheel and also for five steering wheels. Looks like they do pretty good work according to the pictures on their web-site. Will keep you informed.

I have a spare early banjo steering wheel that I am planning to restore and sell on Ebay... someday.

If you have a few months to wait, you could save me the hassle of the Ebay portion of that process....

Ok....received a reply from Dennis at Quality Restorations. He has to make a mold of the early Patrol steering wheel. Would be somewhere in the $800 range for one. Price would be lower for qtys.

Ugh! I can imagine how much work is involved, but... Ugh! How much for, say, five at once?

EIGHT HUNDRED DOLLARS...?????

Yowza... :?

I can virtually guarantee that my Ebay steering wheel will not be 800 bucks.

Let's make our own mold -- What do we think the resin is? I love the early Patrol steering wheel!

In the spirit of Top Gear... How hard can it be? ;-)
