The only serious concern (to me) about running welded spider gears in a Patrol is that the axle shafts are different lengths, so they can't split torsional loads evenly - the short-side always endures greater torsional strain than the longer side. I'm not saying that welded gears guarantees broken axles; I'm just saying that they increase the
likelihood of a short-side axle failure.
on the dirt, it's not as serious an issue, because tire slippage relieves the torsion while turning.
and, 100% guarantee- they will improve 4 wheel drive performance by leaps and bounds, especially in mud, and in severe off-camber situations that cause a wheel to lift off the ground.
