"Custom" Rear Passenger Seats?

Has anyone done any kind of custom rear passenger seats? something quick and dirty? I am looking for ideas on how to get a couple passenger seats in the rear of my Patrol. OEM folding bench seats would be amazing, but hard to come by and expensive, and i'm looking to make something before this weekend!!

I have a folding rear bench (looking forward) on mine. I got rid of the jump seats ages ago, and installed this bench seat. The only problem on trying to replicate it is that it came from a basic Fiat automobile, while I was still in Ecuador. I don't have any pictures at the moment. The bench seat is simple, with the back hinged on the bottom, so nothing to invent there, and the width turned out right the size for the Patrol.

Please note that mine is a medium wheel base, so the seat still leaves some cargo space behind, and under the seat. With yours, the seat will be almost touching the back.

my wife suggested a forward facing bench seat also. but I would prefer the interior-facing "jump seats" I think.

Some friends and I are going to try and go off-roading this weekend, and apparently letting them sit right on top of the fender wells is not acceptable...

I am a hard core "Always wear your seat belt when offroad" for all passengers guy. I know both of my Patrols are beltless in the back. Not saying don't do it, just saying I wouldn't, unless it involves family property and extreme caution. I have been with groups where seatbelts were are a requirement to ride.

well, i think i actually have a pair of lap belts already actually. They were for another project that never really went anywhere.

I think I know what im going to do...boat seats. they are fairly cheap, fold-up, and are "rated" for harsh conditions (getting wet, etc.)

found my solution! at least for now. I went to Academy sports to get some nice, padded boat seats. then I found these molded plastic ones next to them for only $9 each! Made some custom mounting brackets and bolted them in and they fit and feel great! There's also plenty of room under them still for storage of my tool/spare parts bag

A stock Patrol passenger front seat (the wide one) just happens to be the perfect width to fit between the rear wheel wells...

My '66 El Paso machine had a forward facing rear seat in it when I bought it, and when I tore the truck down, that seat sat in the garage for several years, until one day I noticed that the seat frame looked familiar...

I pulled back some of the vinyl, and sure enough, it was an OEM passenger seat

If you look up my thread ....Santa's Sleigh you will see a forward looking bench seat. It fit perfectly. I cant recall if it folds. But it is from a K5 Blazer. It does require a steel platform to mount it on but the width is perfect for a SWB L60.......and there must be 100,000 of them in junk yards to choose from.

You really want it mounted extra high so you don't accidentally shoot the guy in front of you in the head. Something to think about.

K5 Blazer rear seats don't fold... but it is cool that they fit.
