1966 Sky Blue Patrol.

My apologies for starting a new intro thread but I could not figure out how to edit the original.

I am officially joining the group with the 1966 Sky Blue Patrol I posted under “1962 is this a good deal” from a few years ago.
I purchased this Patrol from the family of Frank1699 who acquired it just a little over a month ago. You can see his post from the introduce yourself post of September 18. Franks was 86 years old when he passed away, this was one of the last things he purchased. While I did not know him, buying a Patrol at 86 seems to say a lot about the individual.
Nearly a week since I bought the rig and am very excited to dive in. I dropped the Patrol off at a friends shop where I thought I would have safe quarter for the winter (first snow here in E WA last week). As it would turn out most of his shop is already in use so my first project will now be to clean out my own garage, so I have a space for her.
Today I picked up a Roadmaster Tow Bar system and will make the mounting kits a permanent add to the build. Plan on hitting the car wash on the route home and giving a complete degreasing and wash before settling into the winter workshop.
Once she is home, I will set to work on the clean-up. I located and purchased 6 cans of the TR3 Resin Glaze River had recommended for use in removing oxidation.
I did stop in to see her today to grab the mileage. Odometer reading shows 54117.5 miles. Until we get a little deeper it is hard to say that a 57-year-old truck would have less than 1000 miles per year, but hey a guy can dream.
Upon closer inspection of the steering wheel there is a small crack on the right-hand side. I will review the repair options in these pages as I get to that project.
Stating for the record, I am personally one of the worst typists and or wordsmiths on the forum. Spellcheck will be a huge help, but please do not think brevity in my writing as coldness (as many I work with do). It is simply me trying to avoid publishing mistakes. The less I write, the less chance of revealing my shortcomings.
A little more about me at this point, I have four adult children and currently two granddaughters. My wife is a recent retiree. She has fond memories of an old CJ5 and I have her full permission to spend time energy and efforts on the Patrol. She initially named it River but I explained this forum so it will be named Kettle River Patrol likely (We spent our covid hiatus building a log cabin on the Kettle River just south or Canada so Cabin Patrol may be in the running. I am sure my kids will have a vote soon. Seems like if I am using the word Cabin it should be paired with a Landcruiser as Cabin Cruiser) Anyway. It took roughly 3 years working on weekends to build the cabin, my expectation is for a spring test run on the Patrol.

Will work on an appropriate signature for use.

That's a whole lot of well formed words for someone uncomfortable with them. Great intro, thanks!

That's enough TR3 for a few Patrols probably, should get the job done nice. Very likely the mileage is original, not unusual. The Patrols were/are not really highway friendly and were usually used for ranch work or hunting or being towed behind an RV so low mileage is believable.

Congratulations, sounds like you've got good plans for a springtime cabin run.

Congratulations! You have a winner and a great attitude. Ohhh and your Patrol is good too. With patience and the support of your wife you will be rolling and patrolling before the starter coil cools.
